Eine neuen US-Auflage zufolge (siehe unten) dürfte es bei Flügen folgender Fluggesellschaften in die USA zu Einschränkungen der Beförderung von elektronischen Geräten in der Kabine kommen: EgyptAir, Emirates, Etihad, Kuwait Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Royal Jordanian, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Qatar Airways. Passagiere auf diesen Airlines dürfen elektronische Geräte, die größter als ein Mobiltelefon sind, nicht mehr in der Kabine befördern.
Die betroffenen Airlines wurden heute informiert und sollen 96 Stunden Zeit haben, um diese neuen Auflagen zu erfüllen.
Die Anweisung der US-Behörden im Detail:
DHS/TSA issued a Security Directive/Emergency Amendment instituting new “aviation security enhancements” requiring that all personal electronic devices larger than a cell phone or smart phone be placed in checked baggage at 10 airports for flights to the U.S. The requirements apply only to flights from airports that are the last points of departure to the U.S. The affected airports include: Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, Jordan (AMM); Cairo International Airport (CAI) in Cairo, Egypt; Ataturk International Airport (IST) in Istanbul, Turkey; King Abdul-Aziz International Airport (JED) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; King Khalid International Airport (RUH) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Kuwait International Airport (KWI); Mohammed V Airport (CMN) in Casablanca, Morocco; Hamad International Airport (DOH) in Doha, Qatar; Dubai International Airport (DXB) in Dubai, UAE; and Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) in Abu Dhabi, UAE. All passengers flying through and from these airports are required to place their electronic devices larger than a cell phone/smart phone in their checked bags regardless of the passenger’s citizenship or trusted traveler status. However, the requirement does not apply to “necessary medical devices,” which may remain in a passenger’s possession after screening. Also, the requirements do not apply to flights departing from the U.S. The new requirements are in effect indefinitely until the security threat that prompted the new initiatives is resolved. Other airports may be added based on security risks. The affected airlines are: Royal Jordanian, EgyptAir, Turkish Airlines, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Kuwait Airways, Royal Air Maroc, Qatar Airways, Emirates and Etihad. Affected airlines were notified today at 8:00 a.m. EDT and will have 96 hours to implement the new rules.
